  • I want healthy recipes for one or two people, preferably made with organic ingredients.?

    The rules:

I don't mind if there's leftovers, as long as it tastes good.

Soups, entrees for any meal of the day, and appetizers are good.

I don't really like seafood, but if it's too good to pass up, then okay.

I don't eat pork, unless fully cooked, like sausage or bacon.

Recipes made with whole foods only, no prepackaged mixes.

    Spices are good.

Slightly processed foods (tortillas, bread, yogurt, pancake mix) are okay too.

Foods that are original are fantastic. Different ethnic foods are great!

Remember the main point is health. I want healthy recipes for one or two people, preferably made with organic ingredients.?
Here is a very good recipe for health-concious cooking. It is nice and autumn-ey, and it can be spicy, simply adjust to taste.

    Pumpkin Bread:

    1 1/2 cups (210g) flour

    1/2 teaspoon of salt

    1 cup (200 g) sugar

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    1 cup (1/4 L) pumpkin pur茅e*

1/2 cup (1 dL) olive oil

    2 eggs, beaten

    1/4 cup water

    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    1/2 teaspoon allspice

    * To make pumpkin pur茅e, cut a pumpkin in half, scoop out the seeds and stringy stuff, lie face down on a foil or Silpat lined baking sheet. Bake at 180掳C until soft, about 45 min to an hour. Cool, scoop out the flesh. Freeze whatever you don't use for future use. Or, if you are working with pumpkin pieces, roast or boil them until tender, then remove and discard the skin.

1 Preheat oven to 180掳C (350F). Sift together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking soda.

2 Mix the pumpkin, oil, eggs, 1/4 cup of water, and spices together, then combine with the dry ingredients, but do not mix too thoroughly.

3 Pour into a well-buttered loaf pan. Bake 50-60 minutes or until it passes the 'toothpick test.'

You can also use nuts if you like, and of course use whole flour, not white. Olive oil is good for a number of things as well. The spices are very good, and if you include ginger there are some added health benefits. I hope you don't use metric, because I tried to convert this for quite a while but couldn't, and then my host sister came and helped me. xD They don't have metric measures, so I had to change it all to cups, Farenheit, etc. For the sweetener, Demerera sugar will work nicely, with an added molasses flavour, and it will be healthier and heartier than it would otherwise. The pumpkin, whole flour, spices, rich oil, and raw, unprocesed sugar make this recipe very healthy, and my host family enjoyed it!I want healthy recipes for one or two people, preferably made with organic ingredients.?
This is a great recipe using dried fruit, which you cook. It's great on waffles, ice cream, with vanilla or plain yogurt, or just on its own:

Easy recipe for two 13 year old girls to make for dinner??

me and my friend want to make dinner for my family tomorrow night. we don't know what to make. its for about 4-7 people...

(i'm having a movie night and peeps mite get hungary so left overs are good!!!) we prefer somthing mexican but italian or anthing else is good too!!!Easy recipe for two 13 year old girls to make for dinner??
I would definitely recommend ';homemade'; pizza and a big salad....buy pre-made pizza crusts from the grocery store (you can get them refrigerated or vacuum-packed--like Boboli), get a few cans or jars of pizza sauce, some pre-shredded mozzarella or ';Italian cheese blend,'; and whatever toppings you like (diced pepperoni is WAY better than the thin slices, and I like canned mushrooms better than fresh). After you put together the pizzas (which is fun and easy), they take about 10 minutes to bake. During that time, you can throw together a few bags of lettuce, some chopped tomatoes and cucumbers, and Italian dressing. Voila....everyone loves pizza!Easy recipe for two 13 year old girls to make for dinner??

    TRUE MEXICAN TORTILLAS

    3 cups water

    1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil or lard

    2 pounds flour

    1 teaspoon salt

Heat the water, baking powder, vegetable oil or lard, and salt until it's hot, but just not too hot, just hot enough so that you can touch the water and not be burned.

In a large bowl, pour in the water mixture and add the flour a little-bit at a time until you are finished with the remaining flour. Make sure to mix the water mixture and flour together well. You should have a smooth and elastic dough. Do not use a machine to mix the dough (use your hands).

After mixing the ingredients, cover the dough and refrigerate for about 15 minutes. (This will make the dough easier to work with).

Then take out the dough and heat up a ';comal';, or if you don't have one, simply use a pan. A cast iron skillet works well.

While the pan is heating up, start rolling the tortillas. Sprinkle a small amount of flour on the rolling surface so that the tortillas won't stick.

After they are made, start cooking them. When done, keep them warm in foil paper, or like it's done in Mexico, with a soft towel.

Good luck with this recipe. This will show if you have a little Mexican in you.

    Chicken Alfredo

    2 boneless skinless chicken breasts

    1 jar of Alfredo sauce

    Spaghetti noodles

This is a pretty quick recipe so start boiling the noodles first.

Cut chicken into bite size pieces. Cook in olive oil or margarine/butter until done. Add Alfredo sauce and heat thoroughly. When noodles are done, drain them and serve alfredo sauce on top.

Put the meat and noodles in a large mixing bowl (or back in the pan you boiled the noodles in to save on dishes) and add pizza sauce and 1/2 bag of cheese. Mix well and pour into a greased 9x13 ( I use Pam spray) Top with the rest of the cheese and bake it in a 350* oven for 20- 25 minutes. Serve

1 lb or so ground meat

Brown the meat and drain off grease. Add sour cream and condensed soup (no milk) heat thoroughly and serve over cooked noodles or rice.

    Tator Tot casserole

    1 lb ground beef

1 can green beans ( we use corn)

1 can cream of chicken OR cream of mushroom

1 can water or milk (we use milk)

Tator-tots to cover the top of dish

    shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Brown the beef, drain and put into the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan. Combine green beans or corn, cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup, and the water or milk in a medium bowl. Pour the mixture over the beef. Put Tator-tots on top to completely cover the mixture.

    Challah bread:

    Makes 1 braided loaf

Combine in a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a heavy-duty mixer and let stand until the yeast is dissolved, about 5 minutes:

1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

    1/2 cup warm (105 to 115 degrees F) water

    Add:

    1/2 cup all-purpose flour

    2 large eggs, lightly beaten

    2 egg yolks, lightly beaten

    3 tablespoons vegetable oil

    3 tablespoons sugar

    1 1/4 teaspoons salt

Mix by hand or on low speed until thoroughly blended. Gradually stir in:

    2 1/2 cups bread flour

Knead for about 8 minutes by hand or with the dough hook on low to medium speed until the dough is smooth and elastic and no longer sticks to your hands or the bowl. Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and turn it over once to coat with oil.

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place (75掳 to 80掳F) until doubled in volume, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Punch the dough down, knead briefly, and refrigerate covered until it has again nearly doubled in volume (a three-quarter rise is sufficient), 4 to 12 hours.

The dough is now ready to be shaped.

    Three-Strand Braided Challah

Anyone who has braided hair or rope will have no trouble here. In fact, you can divide the dough into as many strands as you like and braid accordingly, but this one is a simple 3-strand braid.

Weigh and divide the dough equally into 3 pieces.

On an unfloured work surface, roll into balls and let rest, loosely covered with plastic wrap, for 10 minutes.

Grease a baking sheet and sprinkle it with cornmeal.

Roll each ball into a 13- to 14-inch-long rope, about 1 1/2 inches thick and slightly tapered at the ends.

Dust the 3 dough ropes with rye flour so they will be more distinctly separated.

Place the 3 dough ropes side by side and pinch the top ends together.

Lift the left dough rope and place it between the right and middle ropes.

Lift the right rope and place it between the left and middle ropes, then the left rope between the right and middle ropes and so on until you reach the ends.

Tuck both ends of the braid underneath the loaf and set it on the baking sheet.

Whisk together and brush over the top of the loaf:

    1 egg

    Pinch of salt

Loosely cover the braid with lightly oiled plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until not quite doubled, about 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375掳F. Brush the loaf again with egg wash. If desired, sprinkle with:

1 tablespoon poppy or sesame seeds

Bake until the crust is golden brown and the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely on a rack.

    Four-Strand Braided Challah

Weigh and divide the dough equally into 4 pieces.

On an unfloured work surface, roll into balls and let rise, loosely covered with plastic wrap, for 10 minutes.

Roll the balls of dough into long ropes about 1 inch thick and 20 inches long, slightly tapering the ends.

Dust the ropes of dough with rye flour so they will be distinctly separated.

Arrange the 4 ropes side by side and pinch the top ends securely together.

Braid the strips of dough in the following sequence, as shown above:

Lift and place the fourth strand over the second,

    B. Lift and place the first strand over the third,

C, then lift and place the second over the third,

    D. Repeat this sequence, placing the strand that is now the fourth over the second,

E, the first over the third,

F, then the second over the third.

Continue braiding until you reach the end of the strands. Pinch the bottom ends together and tuck both top and bottom ends underneath the braid.

Finish as directed for Three-Strand Braided.

    hope this helps. enjoy.

  • I have a recipe that calls for two and a half (2.5) quarts of water.?

What can I use to measure this? I have an empty two liter. Any idea how many times I would need to fill that to = 2.5 quarts? I don't do a lot of cooking, so I don't have many 'kitchen tools' -

Don't laugh - I am a moron.I have a recipe that calls for two and a half (2.5) quarts of water.?
    1 L 鈮?1.056688 US fluid quart

A two litre bottle thus holds slightly more than two U.S. liquid quarts. (2.113376 US fluid quart to be exact)

If you need 2.5 quarts of water, fill the 2 litre bottle once... for slightly more then 2 quarts...and then add maybe an eighth of the bottle of water to finish up.

    Say....

Do you have any of those 16 ounce plastic drinking glasses that are used for parties and picnics?

When I'm doing a lot of baking/cooking %26amp; all my measuring cups are in the dishwasher... I use them:

Five 16 ounce plastic drinking glasses of water would equal 2.5 quarts.

    ==================================

1 US liquid quart ....... = 1/4 US liquid gallons

    .................................... = 2 US liquid pints

    ....................................= 4 US liquid cups

    .................................... = 32 US fluid ounces

    Thus:

2.5 US liquid quarts...= 5/8 US liquid gallons

    ....................................= 5 US liquid Pints

    ....................................= 10 US liquid cups

....................................= 80 US fluid ouncesI have a recipe that calls for two and a half (2.5) quarts of water.?
    2.5 quarts equals 2.3652 liters

So fill the bottle once and then maybe about 1/6th of the way up again.
Alternatively, if you have a regular short water glass, it's probably about 250 milliliters, so you could just use 9 glasses of water. Like the first answerer said, though, I doubt it matters. You could probably use one full 2 liter bottle and be close enough.
2.5 quarts= 2.365 liters so I would fill it ONCE, then fill it 1/3 full to get about 2.5 quarts. Do you have a pint container in the fridge? 2.5 quarts=5 pints. It also equals about 10 cups (9.997) As long as you're NOT baking, you don't have to be worried about exact measurements.

Can you give me two great recipes for my toddler?

    Hi,

I am looking for 2 recipes to make for my toddler within the next 3 hours.

I would like these 2 recipes

    1. main dish

    2. dessert

    Now here is the challenge.

I am not going to the Supermarket until tomorrow and have completely run out of ingredients. There is limited food available now.

    Here are the ingredients:

    Flour

    Cream of wheat

    Salt

    Sugar

    Sweet Potatoes

    Potatoes

    Cheese

    Hersheys Syrup

    Klim Powder Milk

    Onion

    Garlic

    Apple

    Baking Powder

    Flavored Yogurt

    Whipped Cream

    Butter

3 Tins of Gerber Food (which she is fed up of)

With these ingredients can you come up with two simple yet delicious recipes for her?

P.S. all recipes should be easy stovetop ones. no oven recipes please.

10 points to the 2 most delicious ones. Can you give me two great recipes for my toddler?
Main dish: Peel a sweet potato and cut it into chunks. Boil in a pot of water until tender. Remove the chunks, mash with a little butter, salt, and just a dash of sugar. Yum!

Dessert: I have two suggestions. The easy one would be to just give her yogurt with some apple chunks in it. The hard, but tastier, one would be to use the sugar to make caramel (see http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Caramel for directions) and use it as a dip for apple slices.

Wish I could make the same thing for dinner! Can you give me two great recipes for my toddler?
    Cheesy Mashed Potatoes

    Ingredients

4 lbs potatoes, about 6 to 8 medium

1 tablespoon butter, at room temperature

    1/2 cup milk

    1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper (optional)

    1 cup grated cheddar cheese

    Directions

Peel potatoes and cut in half. Place in a large saucepan and cover with water. Cover saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Then, reduce heat to medium and boil gently, partially covered, until potatoes are tender, from 20 to 30 minutes.

    Drain potatoes and mash.

Stir in butter, milk, salt and pepper.

Stir in cheese just until mixed, season.

For dessert, sliced apples with yogurt to dip
    1) Cheese and potato pie.

Peel and cook potatoes as normal. Drain, shake dry and mash with butter. Add grated cheese and mix. Place in ovenproof dish and top with grated cheese. Grill until it bubbles.

    2) Peel, cook and puree apple with sugar to taste. Stir in a little cream.
Well, no oven, but do you have a blender....?? And how old is your Toddler ? What kind of Gerber Food....meats, or ??? These make a difference in how we describe some recipes to you to actually help you the most. Sure I can search it out and give a link or two but for you that is somewhat useless at this point.

Here is what I would do with what you have on hand...and using a Blender.

Cream of Wheat cooked in reconstituted Dry Milk, and top with a dot of butter and just enough whipping cream for a good flavor.

Sweet Potatoes and an apple cut up cooked in a small amount of water, blended to mix and chop well. Add a slight amount of sugar if the apple is a sour one. If your toddler is eating chunky foods make it chunky.

If you are already giving your toddler onions and garlic, then I would cook the potatoes sliced, in a bit of water/milk with the onions and a little garlic for flavor, and a bit of salt. Then top or stir in small chunks of Cheese. (This is protein just like meat would be if that was listed)

Yogurt, I would serve with the Cream of Wheat, for breakfast.

Sweet potatoe mix for Lunch along with Yogurt on the side.

The Potato Cheese mixture, for a snack or dinner.

If the TINS of baby food is meat....then sometimes changing them up with a bit of spice, or mixing in maybe a veggie they like to change the flavor helps. And being persistent with feeding them. They learn their power early in life.

I would like a recipe for two lamb sirloin steaks (AKA Shoulder chop).?

I have two lamb shoulder chops that are a little less than 1/2 pound each. I would like a great recipe and way to cook these so they are tender and juicy. Also I have heard that lamb goes great with citrus such as orange. I am leaning toward any recipe that includes an orange glaze... perhaps made from frozen orange juice concentrate.I would like a recipe for two lamb sirloin steaks (AKA Shoulder chop).?
The first recipe should be done in a slow cooker but I'm sure you could do it in an oven as well. I know it calls for rib chops but why not try the sauce over your shoulder chops

Slow cooker Lamb Chops with orange

    8 lamb rib chops

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1/2 cup orange juice

    2 tablespoons honey

    1 teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    1/4 teaspoon thyme

    1 teaspoon grated orange peel

    Preparation:

Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat, brown lamb chops on both sides; drain well. Whisk together the orange juice, honey, salt, cornstarch, thyme, and grated orange peel. Place browned lamb chops in crockpot; pour in orange mixture, turning chops to coat well. Cover and cook on LOW 7 to 9 hours (HIGH 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours). Serves 4 to 8.

    Lamb Chops with Pineapple

    Ingredients:

4 lamb chops, arm or blade about 1-inch thick

1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks in syrup, drained, reserve syrup

    1/4 cup soy sauce

    1/4 cup vinegar

    1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

    1 tablespoon vegetable oil

    1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

    1 teaspoon cornstarch

    Preparation:

Place chops in shallow glass dish. Stir together pineapple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar and mustard; pour over chops. Cover tightly, refrigerate at least 4 hours, turning chops occasionally. Drain chops, reserving marinade. Melt shortening in large skillet; brown chops over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup reserved marinade to chops in skillet. Cover tightly. Cook over low heat 30-35 minutes or until tender. Mix sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan; stir in remaining marinade. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Add pineapple chunks and heat through. Serve pineapple sauce with chops.

    Glazed Lamb Chops

    Ingredients:

4 to 6 lamb chops, about 3/4 to 1-inch thick

    salt and pepper

    1/3 cup orange marmalade

    2 tablespoons lemon juice

    Preparation:

Place lamb on an oiled broiler rack. Broil for 6 to 7 minutes on one side. Season with salt and pepper; turn. Broil on the other side for about 5 minutes, or until almost cooked to desired doneness. Season second side with salt and pepper. Combine the marmalade and lemon juice; spread evenly over the lamb chops. Broil for about 2 minutes longer.

    Serves 4 to 6.

    Grilled Lamb Shoulder Chops

    Ingredients

    Pinch Rosemary

    Pinch Oregano

    Pinch Thyme

    Pinch Salt

    Pinch Pepper

    Pinch Onion Powder

    Pinch Garlic Powder

    Olive Oil

    Lemon Juice

    4 Lamb Shoulder Chops

    Directions

Get your grill up to a high-medium-high temp before preparing or cooking the lamb chops.

Sprinkle a pinch of each of the herbs/seasonings onto each lamb chop. Do this on one side, rub it into the meat, repeat on the other side.

Drizzle approx 1/2tsp Olive oil on each lamb chop. Drizzle it on one side, rub it in, repeat on the other side.

Before placing the chops on the grill, turn the temperature down to a medium-low/low heat.

Grill the chops until they are cooked as desired - it is recommended that they are cooked no more than medium-rare/light medium. Any more than this and the meat could become dry. Cooked or uncooked red meat is determined by the temperature, not the color, so be sure to try it if you are not accustomed to having your meat cooked lighter than you are used to!

Some of the best picnics my husband I had were simple ones. Of course, we always hiked somewhere private. I would pack a daypak with things that would not get spoiled. Like a french baguette, salami or summer sausage, good cheese , some fruit in baggies a knife a cork screw and a bottle of wine.

    Best picnic ever

Throw in a large beach towel to um sit on
I agree with sandwiches. Make or order his favorite. And take a thermos of his favorite soup if it will be chilly. Serve it in mugs. A couple sides could be some munchie items like olives or cheese or both, depending on what your sandwiches are. Brownies and/or cookies is a good idea for desert.

oh that's plenty of money! tunafish, peanut butter and jelly, frozen pizzas, mac n cheese, canned veggies....just look for sales
eat lots of corndogs, frozen party pizza, and hamburger helper. bologna, ramen noodles, cup o soup etc. are cheap too
$ 150.00 is enough money to feed 4 people very nutritious meals.

First I would look at all the adds your local stores distribute.

Then I would buy the stuff on sale.

Your money will go further if you use fresh local produce on sale.

Make a meal plan before you go shopping...it's very important on a tight budget.

You will have about $9.00 per day.

    Good luck..

Well Liana, is this for just you? I only spend $30.00 a week on myself. I would buy one or two whole chickens and bake them. You can eat for dinner one or two nights, make sandwiches for lunch with leftovers, and chicken salad with mayo. and celery and seas. for sandwiches. Make baked potatos with them and a salad. Buy a big bag of salad, cucumbers, tomatoes and what ever fresh veggies you like (jicama is great!) and make salad. I also buy some beans, pinto usually and cook a big pot on the stove. You can make burritos, tostadas, or just a bowl of beans with cheese and onions on them, delicious! Then get a pound of hamburger and fry it up in a pan, add to beans after you are tired of them plain, with a can of tomato sauce and a can of tomatoes, chili powder to taste and salt and pepper, you have chili!! Then the next day make some macaroni and add to the chili with cheese and you have chili mac!! I could go on forever!! I used to feed a family of 7 on $50.00. Get a bag of apples and oranges for snacks, celery and peanut butter or cream cheese on celery with seas. salt, great snack. 2 dozen eggs if you like them and bread so you can make eggs and toast or french toast for breakfast or tortillas (good for beans too!) and make breakfast burritos!!! Rice is a good staple, you can also cook white beans with a ham bone and eat with rice, (thats southern cooking there!) and of course, if you can't make homemade Italian sauce, then get a couple cans of speghetti sauce ready made with some pasta and parmesan, with a veggie or salad, of course!! Hope this helps!!
I had a lot of success with cheapcooking.com

Orzo and zuchinni dish. I really like it! Buy some orzo (rice-like pasta) look for it in the pasta section. Buy sone zuchinni, chop it up, and fry it in a pan with some butter. Cook until soft. Drain the pasta, and put it in the pan with more butter, until butter melts fully. Take off heat and serve!!
I spend between $150.00 and $200.00 for a family of four for 2 weeks. I don't buy convenience foods. You'll be amazed at the money you can save by cooking ';from scratch.'; I bake my own bread. Plus, we eat a lot of pasta and rice-based meals. We use ground beef and skinless boneless chicken breast sparingly. A ';treat'; is homemade buffalo wings and brownie pudding (Better Homes and Gardens cookbook). I swear by my Betty Crocker and BHG cookbooks! They are full of economical recipes. Plus, you have to use coupons--I saved $16.85 today with coupons!

    - 300g heavy whipping cream (not sweet)

    - Champignon (as many as you want)

    - Ketchup (3 soup spoons)

    - Mustard (1 tea spoon)

    - Salt

    - pepper

    - butter (1 soup spoon)

Gild the garlic and onion with butter, then add the chicken, salt and pepper. When the chicken gets gild, add everythng else but the champignon. After the chicken is cooked, put the champignons and cook for more 5 minutes. Its delicious with shoestring potato!!
Why don't you cook a whole chicken. Just roast a salt and peppered bird in the oven for 45-60 min depending on the size of the chicken. From there you can make so many simple dinners. Tacos, burritos. salads, toss the meat in with pasta, use it to top a pizza (buy a pre-made pizza crust), sandwiches, etc...The chicken will stay good for 5 days or more so you can use it all week and once you have all of that cooked meat you have the hard part done!

Read the reviews for further recommendations though because as the the first reviewer states it's not complete or even near complete nutrition for dogs. Here is the review:

While this recipe is a good base, it is not nutritionally sound. As a holistic nutritionist, I have formally studied pet nutrition. Your recipe needs variety and necessary additions. Try rotating protein sources (chicken, beef, fish,... and once a week supplementing with organs) and adding an omega-3 rich egg (cook the white, serve the yolk raw) at least once per day. You might vary your grains with rolled oats (which I first process to make into a flour, then simply add to food w/ warm broth before serving my dogs' meals), alternated with enriched white rice, long grain brown rice, and medium grain brown rice (cooked LONGER than for human consumption!). Also, add fresh vegetables lightly steamed and mashed such as carrots, squash, sweet potato, yam, peas, etc., and even apples once in awhile. Most importantly, you really should be adding cottage cheese or plain yogurt with every meal. Use a calcium supplement (at least 300 mg daily) and a multi. Adding alfalfa powder or other greens is necessary for cleansing the blood and immune health. Finally, if only one supplement is to be used, a good enzyme for dogs is imperatve. I use a great multi complex by ';Only Natural Pet,'; calcium, alfalfa powder, an Omega 3-6-9 capsule, acidophilus (or other probiotic), and occasionally an enzyme.

Just about any chicken and rice soup would work for your dogs, if they don't like it you can eat it yourself. just don't use a lot of salt .

    mine likes beef stew best

You don't cook the organs in the soup? and no veggies like green beans, peas , potatoes and carrots ?

What do dogs eat in the wild ? hint they don't cook the food so it must be raw and I doubt they eat potatoes and carrots, but they do eat rice on occasion and no corn . but watermelon , pumpkin and some other gourds on occasion

A very easy and delicious recipe for pasta with alfredo sauce:

    1 bar of cream cheese

    1/2 cup butter or margarine

    3/4 cup parmesan cheese

1 cup milk (you can use more or less depending on how thick you want the sauce to be)

Garlic powder, salt %26amp; pepper to taste

    8 oz. pasta

Cook pasta to desired tenderness by boiling according to directions on package.

In the meantime, cut the cream cheese into cubes, add the butter (or margarine), parmesan and milk to a large skillet. Cook over medium heat until smooth.

Drain the pasta and pour it into the pan with the sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

You can add chicken or shrimp if you'd like to add some protein. Shrimp is my favorite. :)

Serve hot with garlic bread and maybe a caesar salad.

If you're feeding more than 3-4 people you will probably want to double the recipe.

Crab Ravioli in Creamy Tomato Sauce Recipe courtesy Sandra Lee

1 (6-ounce) can lump crabmeat (recommended: Bumble Bee)

    1/2 cup ricotta cheese

    1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

    1 (12-ounce) package wonton wrappers

    1 egg, beaten

    1 cup milk

1 (1.3-ounce) package creamy tomato sauce mix (recommended: Knorr)

    2 tablespoons butter

    Chopped parsley, for garnish

Drain crabmeat, reserving liquid. In a small bowl, combine crabmeat, cheese, and Italian seasoning. Brush a wonton wrapper with the beaten egg. Place about 1/2 teaspoon crab mixture in the center, and fold wrapper diagonally to create a triangle. Press edges to seal. Transfer to a flour-dusted baking sheet. Repeat until all of crab filling has been used; this should make about 32 ravioli.

Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, combine milk and reserved drained crab liquid over medium-high heat. Whisk in sauce, add butter, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, for 3 minutes. Keep sauce warm over low heat while you boil the ravioli. In batches of 8, drop ravioli into boiling water. Cook for 2 minutes, or until ravioli rise to the surface. With a slotted spoon, carefully transfer ravioli to sauce. Repeat until all ravioli are cooked. Divide ravioli equally among 8 plates. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

I have a great recipe for spaghetti pizza bake - kids love this:

    A Kid Favorite:

    1 pound box spaghetti noodles

    1/2 cup milk

    1 large egg

    1 Jar Marinara Sauce

    1 pound lean ground beef

    2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

    13 x 9 glass baking dish

In a large stock pot boil water to cook spaghetti, follow package directions. Drain. Measure milk in large bowl, add egg, mix well, add spaghetti and mix well.

While spaghetti is cooking brown lean ground beef in large saute pan. Drain excess fat, return to pan and add the marinara sauce. Simmer on low.

Lightly grease a 13 x 9 glass baking dish. Pour spaghetti into dish, top with meat mixture and spread cheese on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes uncovered or until cheese has melted.

My grandson is 4, and his sister is 2-1/2. They like ';pigs in blankets'; (hot dogs, rolled in refrigerated crescent rolls %26amp; baked).... chicken fingers ... pork chops ... hamburgers ... chicken ... veggies with dip (especially broccoli, celery %26amp; carrots)... fruit (especially watermelon and mandarin oranges)... Jello Jigglers ... French fries %26amp; tater tots ... cheese pizza ... taco salad..........but don't put sauces on things for them:) Give him ketchup or Ranch dressing, if he likes to dip things....
